Description
What is it with these Working Bands, who, when they need a replacement or sub, just defer to a buddy, instead of hiring the most qualified candidate? Its not a family. Its a Business. You are professionals playing for money. Thus, wouldn't it make sense to bypass your buddy, who may be a nice guy, but isn't a strong player, can't sing, and drinks too much, when there may be someone out there who could bring much more to the table?
I can see if you were on the road full time. Then, the buddy thing would be more important. But when all you do is gig together locally, why must it be someone you went to high school with? Can you imagine if other lines of work hired on the buddy basis? Like the car repair shop? Do you want a guy working on your car who doesn't know much about cars, but got hired because he is the owner's buddy? Likewise, when you are being hired to perform on a professional level, it would seem logical to hire and use the best players, as opposed to the best friends!
When your band is being paid to play, its not personal, its Business!
