NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Theatre will reopen this spring to hold a "Speakeasy Movie Series" featuring four classic films. On the night of the movies, attendees will sneak down the theatre driveway on the right side of the building and enter through the back door using the password 1906. The slate of films to be screened includes: "The Shawshank Redemption", Friday, March 26. Doors open at 7 p.m. Film starts at 8 p.m. Rated R. Starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins"My Cousin Vinny", Friday, April 9. Doors open at 7 p.m. Film starts at 8 p.m. Starring Joe Pesci, Marisa Tomei, and Ralph Macchio"Some Like It Hot", Friday, April 23. Doors open at 7 p.m. Film starts at 8 p.m. Starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon."The Untouchables," Friday, May 7. Doors open at 7 p.m. Film starts at 8 p.m. Starring Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, and Robert De Niro.The event will comply with Pennsylvania COVID crowd-size and safety restrictions. Ateendees are required to wear masks while moving around the theatre but can remove them while eating, drinking or watching the movie. Social distancing will also be enforced. Tickets include the movie, a small popcorn, and two alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks (select beers, wines, mixed drinks, and sodas). All patrons must be 21 to attend. To access the secret ticket page, you must use the code 1906. Tickets are $40 per person and are available online only. Only 45 tickets will be sold for each movie. Like what you're reading?
