HILLTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Charges have been filed against a Chalfont woman accused of harassing a cheerleading group in Doylestown.
In July 2020, the Hilltown Police Department began investigating a report of a teen who was harassed via an anonymous text message.
During the course of the investigation, other teens came forward to say they were also harassed anonymously via text, police said. The teens were all found to be part of a cheerleading group based in Doylestown, authorities said.
Police executed multiple search warrants to determine the origin of the harassment. Their investigation led them to charge 50-year-old Raffaela Marie Spone — who police said was affiliated with the cheerleading group — with three counts of cyber harassment of a child and three counts of repeated anonymous harassment, both misdemeanors.
Spone was arraigned on the charges before Judge Regina Armitage on Thursday, March 4.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for March 30.
