Danville Police Standoff Ends Wednesday Night After 4 Hours

DANVILLE, CA — A nearly four-hour long standoff ended peacefully Wednesday night after law enforcement responded to a person experiencing a mental health crisis in Danville. Danville police responded to Everett Drive around 3:20 p.m. after receiving a report of a person who was discussing suicide. The person was in their car, said they had a gun and would not leave, Danville police said in a statement. Police began talking to the person while officers from the Danville and San Ramon police departments and the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office formed a perimeter around the scene. Nearby residents were asked to stay inside and drivers were asked to avoid the area. The person left their car soon after 7 p.m. and surrendered to officers, who took the person in for a mental health evaluation, police said. No gun was found at the scene, police said.
