Berkeley, California (Wednesday, March 10, 2021) - On March 6th at 1:46 am, three men in their 20's (UC Berkeley students) were walking on Hillegass Avenue (just south of Dwight Way) when a group of 2-3 suspects approached them—leading to a physical altercation. During that altercation, one of the men was struck in the head with a hard object and another was stabbed in the back with a knife.
As a result of the incident, the man who was stabbed was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover. The man who was struck in the head was able to be medically evaluated at the scene.
About an hour later, Oakland PD summoned Berkeley PD to the 5900 block of Shattuck Avenue—where they were in contact with a man who claimed that he had been involved in an incident at People's Park. After investigating the incident further, officers arrested the man (a 28-year-old man, no address) on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, battery causing injury as well as an outstanding arrest warrant.
