Looking for contractor who can advise and do full Reno

Hello, My fiancé and I are first time home buyers and are weighing our options for purchasing a home. Initially we were hoping to a find a place for 480 and have 50-70k to put into it. But those just slightly rough diamonds are hard to find in the areas we're looking, within 40 min of boston ideally north or west of the city. We have recently found a few houses that are foreclosed and cheap but need to be completely redone inside and out. We are looking for a contractor to talk this kind of project through and potentially do the work and can bring their expertise to help make a great property. Is it advisable to have a contractor take a look at a property we are considering? Perhaps more likely to spot an issue we may overlook? Thanks for all connections and feedback. Best Alex
