Avoid all of these CL scams and search for your next pet on Petfinder dot com. I know some rescues are crazy with their demands but there are plenty with normal expectations. Dogs are health checked, up to date in shots and fixed. They are generally very upfront and honest instead of lying because they want to get the pet into a permanent home. Chicago Animal Care and Control has very reasonable adoption fees.
