Seeking Vocalist

Description
Seeking vocalist(s) with some daytime/weekday available time, and interested in singing a wide variety of musical styles and genres, for informal and fun music-making! Do you love to sing, and like a wide variety of musical styles? I’m looking for a vocalist or two to jam with. I’m a multi-instrumentalist mostly focused on keyboards. Looking for singers to enjoy “making music” with … mostly for fun for now, possibly for performing. I have a trio I work with now, (and play out with), but I’m looking to expand by finding singers that enjoy a wider variety of music than my current band does. If you play an instrument as well, that’s a plus but not ‘required’ for what I’m seeking. I’m “semi-retired”, and hoping to find people who have some time during weekday daytimes, for some music-making. Eves and weekends OK too, but I tend to have more free time during weekday daytime. Using JamKazam for online music-making works well; that would be a good way to start, “meet” virtually, and try some songs out, without Covid worries. However, in-person music-making is what I’d like to eventually be doing again. I’m in the north Raleigh area and have a decent practice space. I tend to have a wide variety of genres that I play and enjoy. I know well about 1,000+ songs, and have charts for them (mostly self-made). I use iPads for music/chart display. My playing style can be somewhat of a “one-man-band” kind of thing, that is, with my keyboards and the ways I play them, I can produce a sound that sounds more like several people playing. I can send a few demo recordings to you so you can hear ‘what I do’. So on the topic of music genres – well, it helps to know I’m 61, born in 1959. So my “core” is the music of the 1970s and 1980s. I know a LOT of tunes from 1960s and 1950s too, and some from 1990s and beyond. I also enjoy older music such as “Big-band” era, ballroom-styles, music from 1920s thru 1940s. I also enjoy doing some Broadway music, from older classic Broadway to somewhat more contemporary Broadway. I enjoy some jazz standards and “American Songbook” type music as well. Throw in some Beach, R’n’B, blues, a few themes from TV and movies, and a little bit of country … so I do like to play a wide variety of kinds of music. I play classical too, but most of that is instrumental. My ‘core’ is rock and pop from say 1965-1990 or so. I tend toward medium rock, light/soft rock, and a little bit of harder rock. Not really into acid rock, metal or really “very-hard” rock. I can send a song list to someone interested in doing some jamming. Mainly I enjoy playing songs that are well-known and well-loved by lots of people; music that has some ‘nostalgia’ from these earlier eras. For those that know keyboards and their sounds, I love playing not just piano, but also “B3” (Hammond organ) sounds, synths, classic electric piano sounds (Rhodes, Wurli, etc.), and also have some great orchestral sounds (strings, horns, woodwinds, etc.) I also enjoy trying to re-create some of the classic sounds from those time periods – from ‘cheesy’ Farfisa organs to honky-tonk piano and more – depending on the song. An ideal situation would be to eventually find both a male and a female vocalist – that way, a really wide variety of music types can be done. Variety is the spice of life (and music)! ☺ Since I’m initially looking to expand my musical horizons “just for fun”, this is not primarily a “trying to start or join a band” thing, at least for now. If something worked out real well, moving to some performing “out” is a possibility, but I do have some guys (duo/trio) that I work with currently for occasional weekend gigs. If this sounds interesting, reply here and we’ll start a dialog, chat some about all this, and see about getting together (either on-line JamKazam, or in person). -Jim
