Building handyman position available for prominent central Jersey construction company. Compensation starts at $17/hr (depending on experience). Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: •Inspects vacant units and prepares them for rental (Patchwork, paint, rehab). •Respond to tenant repairs and keeps a journal of completed work. •Keeps building grounds and common areas clean and in a safe condition. •Maintains fresh paint on the interior and exterior of the building. •Conducts regular preventative maintenance on items throughout the interior and exterior of the building. •Performs regular inspections of all common areas. •Perform basic appliance installation and repairs. •Perform basic installation of framing, drywall, and spackle repairs. •Perform basic tile installation and repairs Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: •Has the ability to perform basic repairs in electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems. •Must be detail-oriented and have good scheduling skills. •Must be proficient at safely using tools associated with the job. •Has basic knowledge of building codes and safety standards as set forth by the state and federal governments. •Must have a valid driver’s license. •Must be able to lift heavy items. •Must be able to maneuver in small spaces. •Must be able to kneel and crouch or climb ladders. •Must own tools required to work Experience •Experience working on a construction or maintenance crew. •Must speak English, working knowledge of Spanish. •Must pass a criminal background check as well as a drug test.
