Press release from the Shawnee Mission School District: Mar 9 2021 Members of the Shawnee Mission Area Council PTA are leading a book drive to provide books related to diversity, equity, and inclusion for Shawnee Mission school libraries. A purchase suggestion list has been created by Shawnee Mission librarians with students in mind: https://www.smac-pta.org/dei SMAC PTA states that the books may be purchased from any bookseller. The goal of this drive is to help all students see themselves and their families represented in literature, SMAC PTA President Tash Davis shared. "We hope all students have the opportunity to learn about, recognize, value, and embrace the uniqueness of their classmates and community through reading," she expressed.
