WHEATON, IL — In Wheaton, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 70 cases in the past week, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). This reflects a notable increase over the previous week, in which Wheaton saw 39 new coronavirus cases. As of March 2, there had been 3,874 coronavirus cases reported in Wheaton. The total number of cases reported in Wheaton as of March 9 was 3,944. On March 2, the village had reported 2,748 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 2,790 as of March 9. The county also marked another milestone as its overall coronavirus positivity rate dropped to 3.4 percent, its lowest point since June 2020. The risk of transmission in DuPage County is currently classified as "substantial."
