SALEM, NH — A Massachusetts man was arrested on several charges, including a dealing drug accusation and reckless conduct charges, after a crash in Salem on Friday. According to police, officers were sent South Broadway Street in the area of Harbor Freight Tools for a report of a drug offense. Two detectives were involved in an attempted arrest after a drug deal. A man accused of being involved in the deal took off in a blue Dodge pickup truck. Other units were requested to the scene to assist. Later, the vehicle drove into a ravine and Salem Fire and Rescue teams were called to assist. Stephen Hilton, 46, of Middlesex Street in North Andover, MA, was arrested on possession of a controlled drug-sale-methamphetamine, transport drugs in a motor vehicle, disobeying an officer, reckless conduct, and two counts of reckless operation charge. According to the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune, Hilton was accused by police of nearly driving his pickup truck into two Salem police detectives as they attempted to arrest him. After crashing, he was arrested and taken to the Parkland Medical Center for treatment. Hilton, according to the Rockingham County Superior Court, is due in court for arraignment on April 15.
