LA GRANGE, IL — The victim of a recent sign-throwing incident in La Grange told an officer he believed it was an angry real estate agent, police said. On the afternoon of Feb. 28, a man in the 300 block of South Kensington Avenue told police he was shoveling snow when a woman pulled up in a gray subcompact-style car, called him an "a------" and threw an "open house" sign out of her car window in his direction, police said. The sign came close to hitting him, according to a report obtained through a public records request. The woman proceeded east on Maple Avenue from Kensington. The man told police he suspected the woman, who was about 55 to 65, was a real estate agent who was upset because he put open house signs with his address near other open house signs in the area, according to the report. The man's house is for sale by owner. The man said he would go to a nearby open house in an attempt to identify the sign thrower. The next day, the officer called the man, who said no one at the open house resembled the woman, police said. The reporting officer said he would file a supplemental report if the suspect is identified. The case is considered closed for the time being.
