Press release from the Novato Unified School District: March 9, 2021 (Novato, CA) … Thanks to Marin Public Health and the coordination with the Marin County Office of Education, all employees and partners of the Novato Unified School District have been offered an opportunity to get a Covid-19 vaccine. According to Matt Willis, Marin Public Health Officer, the March 6 mass vaccination event vaccinated "…2,049 of our teachers and schools staff in 8 hours!" NUSD employees participated in that event. "I'm really proud that NUSD has been able to offer vaccines to all of our employees. Coordinating two Saturday vaccine events for educators is really making it convenient for our employees. We appreciate our partnership with Marin Public Health and the Marin Office of Education for making this happen for all educators," commented Superintendent Kris Cosca. Novato Unified identified over 1,100 individuals eligible for the vaccine and worked with Marin Public Health to offer appointments at one of two vaccine events for educators: March 6 and March 13, 2021. In addition, the county recently expanded the pool of people eligible for vaccinations to include people who work in the food service, agriculture, and education industries. Moving educators up the priority list also made it possible for individuals to be vaccinated at other locations in the Bay Area. This press release was produced by the Novato Unified School District.
