Maintenance Specialist Location: NAS Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, WA. Some travel required. Health and Welfare benefit is used to pay Medical and Dental premiums. •Paid Holidays •Paid Sick Leave. 1 hour per every 30 hours worked •Paid Vacation after 1 year of employment •401K plan after eligibility is met (1 year) Job Summary The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for equipment maintenance on all New Leaf’s federal contracts. This equipment is but not limited to tractors, lawn mowers, lawn trimmers, small engines (fluid/oil changes). Carpet cleaners such as steamers and vacuums. Floor polishers such as buffers, walk behind scrubbers and ride on scrubbers. Duties/Responsibilities •Requires compliance to written government contract standards in accordance with the Performance Work Statement. •Check and maintain equipment to ensure that it is in working order. •Investigate complaints about down service and equipment and take corrective action. •Recommend changes that could improve service and increase operational efficiency. •Instruct staff of work policies and procedures, and the use and maintenance of equipment. •Use and operate all equipment being serviced. •Clean and maintain tools used for shop or equipment maintenance. •Report malfunctioning equipment immediately to Field Manager. •Submit supply needs to Field Manager. •Use extension ladders, step ladders and step stools. •Be familiar with and adhere to New Leaf’s safety and emergency procedures. •Participate with Human Resources Department when needed in development and training. •Be conscious and adhere to the mission of New Leaf: “To promote independence and quality of life through employment.” Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities •Excellent verbal and written communication skills. •Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. •Excellent time management skills. •Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving. •Ability to maintain professionalism. •Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate. •Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, and other agencies. •Ability to be punctual, dependable, ethical, self-motivated, and able to multi-task. •Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software. • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures. Education and Experience •High School diploma or equivalent required. •Prior grounds maintenance experience highly preferred. •Prior janitorial experience highly preferred. Qualifications •Ability to pass NAS Whidbey Island Background check at time of hire and for duration of employment. Felonies will prohibit base access. •Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record. •Ability to obtain and maintain approval to operate New Leaf vehicles approved by New Leaf’s insurance carrier. •Ability to obtain various training requirements: Environmental training, Fire school training, restricted driver license training and Source America training. •Ability to obtain current Multimedia or Industrial First Aid/CPR certification.
