Volunteers Needed To Help Sew Memory Bears For Hospice of MI

MICHIGAN – Hospice of Michigan is seeking volunteers to help create "Memory Bears" to comfort grieving families. The Memory Bear program started in 2014 to help grieving families capture and preserve aspects of their loved ones with a stuffed animal. The bears are approximately eight inches tall and can be made from the clothing of a loved one. ""Memories can last a lifetime," said Karen Monts, director of grief support services for Hospice of Michigan, in a prepared statement." Often, patient families choose a favorite shirt or color to make the bear even more characteristic of their loved one." Volunteers must have sewing experience in order to help keep up with demands for these unique stuffed animals. For more information, visit www.hom.org.
