Scottsdale Police Arrest Man For Assault, Likely A Serial Groper

SCOTTSDALE, AZ —The Scottsdale Police Department arrested a man early Wednesday morning who admitted to committing an assault that night and to being pictured in surveillance video attempting to commit another assault previously. Phoenix resident Christian Lee Stadler, 26, was taken into custody while trying to leave an apartment complex where a woman had just reported an attack. Stadler was identified as the suspect and charged with Aggravated Assault and Criminal Trespassing. According to the police, the victim said she had been followed home by Stadler, who had grabbed and groped her from behind as she tried to enter her apartment. Police already had been conducting surveillance detail on the apartment complex after similar incidents had been reported by other women. One such incident was caught on tape and showed a would-be assailant being chased away by his potential victim. The video has been posted on the police department's Facebook page. After his arrest, Stadler admitted to having committed the early-Wednesday crime and said he was the man pictured in the video. Now, Scottsdale police are asking for the public's help with information related to other incidents of Stadler inappropriately touching female victims.
