Local Students Make Dean's List At Bates College

LEWISTON, ME — Bates College recently released the names of the students who made the school's honors lists for the fall 2020 semester, and the Dean's List includes some local resudents. The Dean's List at Bates is a distinction earned by students whose grade point average is 3.88 or higher. The following Birmingham-area students made the list: Ellie Vance of Birmingham: Vance, the daughter of Joyce White Vance and Robert S. Vance Jr., is a 2017 graduate of Altamont School. She is majoring in politics and psychology at Bates. Ryan Standaert of Vestavia Hills: Standaert, the son of David G. Standaert and Janet L. Standaert, is a 2020 graduate of Indian Springs School. Located in Lewiston, Maine, Bates is internationally recognized as a leading liberal arts college, attracting 2,000 students from across the U.S. and around the world.
