Volunteer opportunity on community outreach for energy assistance

Volunteer with the Energy Coordinating Agency in North Philadelphia to WRISE Philadelphia is partnering with the Energy Coordinating Agency, an organization that has been educating and training Philadelphians in energy conservation and helping them meet their energy needs for over three decades. The reality of COVID-19 has affected many families in different ways, and difficulty in making utility payments is particularly high for many Philadelphians right now. With Pennsylvania’s moratorium on utility shutoffs just around the corner, ECA’s programs in energy counseling and utility bill payment assistance are more needed than ever. But a lot of the people most in need of assistance don’t even know about ECA and it’s programs, and this month, that’s where WRISE will be stepping in to help! On the morning of Saturday March 20th, you can volunteer for a socially distant, COVID-19-safe neighborhood outreach effort in North Philadelphia. ECA will be organizing teams of 2-3 people to distribute information about their local community centers, the Neighborhood Energy Centers. The specific locations that will be canvassed are the neighborhoods of Hunting Park, Nicetown and Strawberry Mansion. These are the addresses of the specific meeting locations: Hunting Park NEC: 3760 Delhi St. Nicetown CDC: 4300 Germantown Ave. Strawberry Mansion NEC: 2829 W. Diamond St. When you register, you can choose the location of your preference, or if you RSVP to "General Attendance," you will be assigned to the location with the greatest need. This will be WRISE Philadelphia’s FIRST volunteer project ever, and it’s our chance to make a major impact in the lives of our fellow Philadelphians!
