Rahovi Ensemble was founded in 2019 in Boston to present Iranian classical music. Our first big concert was supposed to happen in 2020 but we all know what pandemic did to music events. After almost one year of isolation and limited online performances, we decided to reconnect with our audiences through our music though virtually.
Damsaaz, which in Persian means music instrument as a confidant, is a performance that reflects our feelings to one year of long pandemic. As we see light at the end of the tunnel and we get closer to Iranian new year (Nowruz), we like to celebrate and share this music with you.
The concert is an Iranian Classical music in Dastgah-e Mahour, Avaz-e Afshari, and Avaz-e Isfahan. There will be Qanun (Afarin Nazarijou), Oud (Bahar Badiei), Vocal (Mahya Hamdei), and Tombak/Dayereh (Pouya Shabanpour).
The concert will be held at the beautiful Gordon Chapel of Old South Church in Boston. However, we are not allowed to have any in-person attendees. The concert will be streamed online.
