We’ve had this cute little boy named Pablo for a couple of months now. He was a stray and we’ve been working hard to train him. Unfortunately, one thing we haven’t been successful with is training him not to chase our cats, and it’s looking like rehoming may be the only option.
What you need to know about Pablo, the good and the bad:
-as mentioned, he should be in a home without cats.
- he has a lot of energy and would do great in a home with a yard and maybe another playful doggo as he’s good with other dogs.
-he 1.5-2 years old according to the vet. He is almost totally vaccinated (waiting on boaters in a week) and fixed. He just got a clean Bill of health.
- he loves walks, but he does bark and lunge at other dog walkers and some people. We have been working on this for a short time and he is a good learner but hasn’t yet broken this habit.
-he is house trained. He had a few accidents when we first got him but hasn’t had any in about a month.
- we’ve had a trainer come a couple times and she said he is a very very quick study. We have learned sit and come so far. He understands no as well.
- he is very cuddly and loves being in your lap.
- he is territorial and will bark when people come to the door
-he sleeps through the night.
- when we got him he would growl at us if we touched him when he ate. He has since stopped but did bite once (didn’t break the skin) when I tried to pry a pecan from the yard out of his mouth. From what I know about resource guarding this should correct itself in time but you will need to be patient.
I really love this little boy and am heartbroken that it doesn’t seem to be working. I’m really hoping the right home for him is out there where he can be happy and thrive. There is a small rehoming fee to ensure that he goes to a good home. Please include your phone number in the email so we can set up a call if you’re interested.
