Framingham Reminds Residents To Quarantine If Coronavirus-Exposed

FRAMINGHAM, MA — It's been almost one year since Framingham's first positive coronavirus test, but officials are still reminding residents to follow health guidelines if exposed to the virus. City officials on Monday warned residents who either test positive for COVID-19 or are exposed to someone with the virus. The warning comes as Framingham schools enter a full hybrid schedule, and as businesses across the state are allowed to enter the next phase of reopening. "This week, many businesses and schools are in the process of reopening," officials said Monday. "The Framingham Health Department is counseling and following many people in the city who are in quarantine due to a close contact exposure or positive COVID-19 diagnosis. As a reminder, people must follow this counsel to avoid further transmission." The city added 62 new coronavirus cases over the weekend, and there were still 1,255 active cases as of Monday. There were 528 residents in quarantine, according to the health department. Framingham's first coronavirus cases was detected on March 11, 2020. Since then, the city has counted 6,977 total cases and 229 deaths.
