Description

Duke is a beautiful Shepherd mix, 2 years old weighing about 35 pounds, shoulder height 20”. He started the first 10 months of his life as an indoor pet, housebroken & Leash trained. Smart, energetic, eager to please. Great with children. ( He was raised with an 8 year old boy and has played with my young grandkids, following their every step.) Loves to ride, friendly disposition. Gets along great with our female dog, but is territorial and not friendly to strange dogs coming into his yard. He is neutered and up to date on all shots, heart wormer, flea and tick control. (Heart wormer medicine goes with him to new home.) A patient of Hope Animal Hospital in Shelby, NC ( Records available) RECENTLY passed his annual checkup. This is his history: About 15 months ago we got Duke because his owner was going through a divorce and had to move in with her mother who would not allow Duke to come along. (She raises purebred dogs, and Duke was not neutered at that time.) We are rehoming Duke after having him 15 months because he roams and barks at the neighbor’s cows. He was recently aggressive toward the same neighbor’s dog. We don’t have a fence to insure he doesn’t go back there again. He considers that to be part of his territory. His new forever family MUST have a fenced yard. He loves to be outside but needs a fence so he can run and play, as he has a lot of energy. He sleeps in a blanket covered crate on our porch at night, but would prefer to sleep beside his owner’s bed. We bring him inside in the evenings to curl up beside us on the couch. We are very attached to Duke and would keep him if we had a fence. We require a rehoming fee of $75 to insure a good home. Please email me if you think Duke would be a fit for your family. If you have another dog, they should meet and greet before you take Duke, to be sure they will get along.
