Seeking part-time livestock assistant for 20-25 hours/week. Email resume or paragraph introducing yourself and explaining previous related experience. Responsibilities: Responsible for the care of 43 head cattle herd, overseeing a successful calving and breeding season for 18 cows Oversee feeding and watering cattle daily during non-grazing season (November-mid April) Multiple times a day rotating during grazing season (mid-April-November) Maintain perimeter fencing, set up and take down of temporary paddocks Monitor livestock health and treat infections and disease as they arise including administering basic vet and animal husbandry Tagging, banding, and weighing new calves Bi-annual vaccinations Manage hay inventory and coordinate purchase and delivery of hay supply Maintain records relating to herd health and performance, rotational moves, pasture performance Assist with irrigation moves in collaboration with SFF operations manager Coordinating slaughter/processing including loading and hauling livestock to butcher Ordering and purchasing needed supplies Requirements: Ability to to carry out cattle moves and operations with low-stress handling in corrals and facilities Experience with cattle health and treatment Physical ability to lift 75+lbs. Strong record-keeping skills and problem-solving abilities. Can haul livestock in trailer on interstate Communicates effectively Weekend & Flexible Availability
