I’ve done a little experiment and the results were kind of interesting. When I’ve posted statements or jokes that support Biden or a progressive cause I received no response or sometimes, a quick one in agreement. But after I posted things in support of Trump or a conservative cause the replies have been quite different. Often replies were long, with fragmented, somewhat confusing sentences and generously laced with the most colorful foul language. (I got the impression some writers assume the more swear words they used, the more persuasive their argument.) I’m sure most Democrats express themselves in a pretty civil manner, but it seems many of those replying to CL posts can’t count themselves in that group. And the pathetic thing is, I’ve heard no thoughtful and reasoned solutions in defense of Biden’s policies but rather just lashing out and cussing. Like what’s happened on Twitter and Facebook, the left, unable to present logical counter statements, simply want to shut down debate and silence any point of view other than their own. Kind of sounds like Germany in the 1930s and most of us know how that turned out.
