The time has come Missouri Coaches and Team Leaders ... time to get reignite the stoke and get more MO kids on bikes for NICA season #2! In just a few short months, every Missouri middle and high school student will be provided the opportunity to participate in a scholastic mountain bike season brought to you by the Missouri Interscholastic Cycling League - the Missouri Chapter of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). The Missouri Interscholastic Cycling League’s second annual Coach and Leadership Summit will bring together coaches, team leaders and volunteers —both new and experienced—to develop skills and knowledge, share strategies, and build community. This conference will promote a holistic approach to coaching and leadership that creates an environment in which young people can grow and thrive. For Missouri's second season, the focus of the 2021 Coach and Leadership Summit will be about running a successful and thriving Missouri NICA team. Summit topics will include: The 2021 Missouri NICA Schedule Recruiting, Coaching and Retaining the NICA Student-Athlete (especially Female Student-Athletes!) Managing the Growth of Your Expanding Team Designing an Effective Practice Schedule Practice Progression and On-the-Bike Games NICA Adventure, GRiT and Teen Trail Corps Coach Licensing Risk Management Leadership and Team Building The Race Day Experience and Much More! On The Bike Skills 101 (OTB 101) and Maybe 201 Too! * A detailed weekend Schedule of Events will be published soon! ** Attending a Leaders’ Summit is a level 3 licensing requirement. The first time a coach attends a Leaders' Summit, credit is applied to the licensing requirement. Any time a coach attends a subsequent Leaders' Summit, that attendance will be applied to CEUs. -------------------------------------------------------- The 2021 Missouri Coach and Leadership Summit Who: The Summit is open to all interested coaches, team leaders, volunteers, and staff of the Missouri Interscholastic Cycling League. When: Saturday, April 17th @ 8:00am - Sunday, April 18th @ 4:00pm Where: The Linc * 1299 Lafayette Street * Jefferson City, Missouri 65101 Cost: The cost of the Summit is FREE to all registered attendees on or before March 31st, 2021. After April 1st, the price increases to $50.00 per person. Cost includes a continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday; light snacks and refreshments both days; and all training sessions and materials/manuals. More details to be announced soon. Lodging: Summit attendees are responsible for their own lodging. Jefferson City is an awesome community with endless lodging and camping opportunities. More details to be announced soon. OTB 101/201: Attendees will learn NICA-endorsed training methods, which includes the progressive steps needed to teach basic mountain biking skills to student-athletes. You'll also learn about experiential teaching techniques, how to accommodate different learning styles, and how to create a positive learning environment for young riders. Don't forget your bike, helmet, and appropriate riding and safety gear for any potential weather! First Aid/CPR: The Missouri Interscholastic Cycling League will be offering a First Aid/CPR Course at the Coach and Leadership Summit. The Medical Coordinators are finalizing details now, stay tuned!
