Jobs

185 Cambridge St, Boston MA

Description

Are you a female between 24-45 years old? Do you have major depression? Researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital are recruiting women to participate in a study to examine the effects of non-invasive transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation (tVNS) on the regulation of heart rate and depressive symptoms in patients with major depression. The information learned from this study may help us in future research on the treatment of depressive symptoms and prevention of heart disease in patients with depression. If eligible, subjects will be asked to complete an evaluation visit either in-person or remotely via telephone or Zoom. At this visit, a clinician will ask detailed questions about your past and current mental health. This visit takes about 1.5 hours. If further eligible, we will ask you to come in for 5 stimulation sessions over the course of two weeks. During these sessions, you will complete questionnaires before and after non-invasive transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation. Additionally, at each of these sessions, we will collect blood samples before and after stimulation. Each one of these sessions will be about 2 hours long. All visits occur at the MGH main campus in Boston, MA. Eligible participants will receive up to $525 for completing the study.
