We farm 12 acres of extremely diversified vegetables & 7 acres of walnuts 5 miles form down town Chico. We have a 100-200 person CSA and attend 2-3 Farmers Markets a week. We sell to a handful of eateries as well. Our vision is to provide local, healthy food to the community. "Ask for what you want, not what you don't want" is one of our mottos in this changing world we would like to be pioneers of positive change. Our Farm Crews tasks include, field cultivation, planting, irrigation systems, harvesting, post-harvest handling, distribution, Farm stand management. The majority of work requires the physical capability to contribute daily in a rigorous, fast paced agricultural setting; creating an incredibly rewarding, yet demanding work environment and life experience. Crew members are responsible for all daily farm operations. Field work includes: Greenhouse and field seeding, transplanting, hand weeding, setting up irrigation, trellising, harvesting, washing and packing produce Farm Stand, Farmers Market sales and CSA distribution . Weekly Schedule Details Monday-Friday: Daily Start: our start time is 6:30 am. Breaks: We have 15 minute break mid-morning and take lunch at 12:30. Daily End: We’re usually finished by 3:30 pm.​ Educational Opportunities: This is a hands on educational experience best suited to folks interested in pursuing a future in small farming. Crew learn aspects of running a successful small farm, including greenhouse management, Fruit and nut tree management and post harvest handling, distribution and marketing, and Farm Stand management. Skills Desired: Skills Desired: We are looking for positive, reliable, responsible, and hardworking individuals who have a great sense of humor and are able to follow directions and communicate well with others. Attention to detail is critical and a passion for growing food essential. (If you are not a morning person, a farm job probably isn’t a good fit for you as we start each day early.) You must also be a team player, punctual, and be able to work in all weather conditions. Be prepared for rain, intense sun, wind, cold and heat each day in the field. Previous farm or landscape experience is required, and it is essential that candidates are committed to the farming lifestyle and all that it demands.
