NEWTOWN, PA — A longtime Newtown local business owner is running for Magisterial District Judge in Bucks County. Mark Zinman, founding and managing partner of Zinman & Co., a public accounting firm and business in Southampton, is running for judge of Magisterial District Court 07-2-07, which covers Newtown Borough and the townships of Newtown, Upper Makefield and Wrightstown. He has served as volunteer treasurer of Congregation Kol Emet and SPIN, a nonprofit organization serving individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities. He also spent 19 years coaching youth ice hockey, including four years as coach of the junior varsity and middle school teams at Council Rock South, and nearly 20 years as a youth ice hockey referee. "I have always aspired to serve my community as a district judge," Zinman said in a news release. "My work in the private and voluntary sectors has provided me with the experience and skills prerequisite to holding the position. I can thoroughly, accurately, and effectively analyze information and situations, and apply rules fairly and objectively. My goal is to positively impact all members of our community." Zinman will face District Judge Michael "Mick" Petrucci, 46, of Newtown, who is running for reelection and has received an endorsement from the Bucks County Republican Committee. The Republican incumbent was elected in 2015 to fill the seat of Judge Donald Nasshorn, who passed away the year prior. The judge position carries a six-year term.
