BERKELEY, CA — A Cal gymnast made history with a perfect 10 in the uneven bars. Had public health experts been on the judging panel, they likely would've given Emi Watterson the same high marks. pic.twitter.com/kUpcaabYjy— Cal Athletics (@CalAthletics) March 7, 2021 The Golden Bears senior wore a mask throughout her routine in Saturday's 198.050-196.925 victory over UCLA in a Pacific-12 Conference meet. The Brisbane, Australia, native became just the second gymnast in school history to achieve a perfect 10 on the uneven bars. Cindy Tom (1992) is the only other Bear to do so. Her teammates erupted in cheer after she concluded what was clear to them to be a phenomenal performance. Twitter users gave Watterson high marks for her performance — and for setting a good public health example. "If Emi Watterson can get a perfect 10 (on the uneven bars I should add) while wearing a mask, wearing one to the grocery store, in drive-thrus, while walking in a busy park etc. shouldn't be a problem," one Twitter user wrote.
