TUCSON, AZ —A man wanted by police for a homicide and carjacking that took place in Tucson Saturday night or early Sunday morning was arrested Monday in Globe, a city in Gila County. The suspect now awaits extradition to Pima County Jail, the Tucson Police Department said. According to police reports, Bruce Fairbanks Spring, 34, was taken into custody shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday after a short police pursuit. Spring had been located by members of the Gila County Sheriff's Department, Globe Police Department and Arizona Department of Public Safety. Spring was wanted for the homicide of 21-year-old Nicole Collins, who died of stab wounds suffered Saturday night or early Sunday morning at Tucson's Terrace Motel, 631 W. Miracle Mile. Authorities said they believe Spring also is responsible for a carjacking outside the motel. As of Monday, the TPD said its Homicide Unit detectives were traveling to Globe to continue their investigation. The suspect was expected to be booked into the Gila County Jail on the felony warrant, and he was awaiting extradition to the Pima County Jail. Authorities had been looking for Spring since early Sunday morning when, just after 12:30 a.m., officers from the Operations Division West were dispatched after a report of a stabbing at the Terrace Motel. Collins, the victim, was found at the scene with life-threatening injuries. She later was pronounced dead at Banner University Medical Center. Detectives from the Homicide Unit determined Spring was a suspect in the stabbing death and a carjacking reported in the area south of the motel. A felony warrant was obtained for Spring's arrest for first-degree homicide. The search for Spring, and the Toyota Tacoma he was driving, ended a day later, and two hours away, in Globe.
