UHP First Thursday Lecture by Melissa Yes
"Twilight's Last Gleaming"
Shortly after the World Trade Towers fell, my dad came home from Lowe’s with a bag of red, white, and blue spray paint. Within a few weeks, the rusted patches of one of his project cars would be sealed with bright Rust-Oleum he’d painstakingly stenciled in the form of an American flag. Nothing in my studies or experiences has influenced my work as much as that man, that car, and all they represent. Come see how I translate this and other curiosities into art that pushes boundaries and I hope draws people in.
