Featured Event Speakers: Laci Williams, TPUSA Field RepresentativeNick Gargano Jr., Brighton High School Student and President of TPUSA at Adams County. Colton Magoon, Riverdale Ridge High School StudentOn the anniversary of the district shutdown, join 27J students, parents, and educators to protest the mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic. We need your support to get our students back in school! The 27J School District still has no plan to open schools more. Currently, high school students have been attending three school days a week, with only one of those in person for about four hours. This is unacceptable and is causing irreversible damage to our students. A recent study conducted by a 27J student with over 600 responses concluded that this model of learning is highly ineffective, and students are far more depressed. At this time, 1/10 students reported that they are highly depressed and often think of hurting themselves. Even after bringing this to the district's attention, they did nothing. One would think that after six months, the district would be able to get their act together but not. The goal of this protest is to pressure the district to get back into full-time in-person learning before the end of this school year, or at a minimum increase the amount of in-person days in the hybrid model. A petition will be delivered to the superintendent's office immediately following the protest. The protest will take place on Saturday, March 13th at 1 PM. It will be hosted at Carmichael Park in Brighton, CO, near city hall. Bring your sings and posters and come out to show your support! Event hosted by Turning Point USA at Adams County Activism Hub, and in cooperation with 27J students from all three district high schools.
