Description

Have you lost someone you love to suicide? Take part in the longest suicide prevention walk in the Nation. Find hope & healing along the way What started as a crazy idea, has morphed into one of the most popular events we have ever held. One that has the attention of the media, and the Nation. The Annual 100 mile Walk to Wendover takes 2 full days to accomplish as a group. You will not walk the entire distance on your own. Most walk 20-30 miles a day. In order to accomplish this we do it in relay fashion. We walk 5 mile sections, but as long as you can stay ahead of the bus and not slow the group down, you can walk what you are able. We register the morning of the walk at Tooele City Hall before sunrise, and we set out right from the front doors of City Hall doing something many people will probably say is impossible. With Sheriff support vehicles in front of us and tour buses behind us we walk. We walk for the loved ones we have lost to suicide. Maybe we walk for those who struggle everyday to stay with us. By the end of day one we find ourselves in the middle of the west desert, halfway to Wendover, Nevada. As the sun is setting we board the buses, and return to where the day started. The next morning we arrive early to City Hall, and board the buses which will return us to where we left off. Here we will begin day two. That evening we arrive in Wendover, with sore feet, exhausted and sunburnt. We have accomplished what the naysayers told us we could never do, and that evening we celebrate. We celebrate the new friendships we made along the way, we celebrate accomplishing the impossible, but most important we celebrate healing. Then Sunday morning we board the buses for the last time and return to where this journey all began. A journey that will have changed your lives. A journey you will never forget. A journey you will vow to do every year you are able. HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW. ***MUST BE 21 or accompanied by a guardian*** 1. This is a FUNDRAISER. You will be expected to get pledges of at least $500 to attend the walk. 2. All funds go to Life's Worth Living Foundation to support suicide prevention here in Utah. 3.
