FARMINGDALE, NY — Ms. Michaela Verzi, a third-grade teacher at Saltzman East Memorial School in the Farmingdale School District, was nominated as teacher of the week. She was nominated by Christine Balfe, whose daughter is in Verzi's class. "My daughter has been doing remote learning since September with Ms. Verzi and I can't say enough how much of a remarkable teacher she is!" Balfe wrote in an email. "She is very attentive to us parents and her students ... She goes above and beyond to make sure we all know what to expect and what the kids will be learning each week!
