UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Police arrested an on-duty Maryland National Guard soldier on Friday, charging him with one count of possessing child pornography, reports said. The accused soldier was working at the Six Flags mass vaccination site during his arrest, the National Guard announced the next day. The branch identified the accused soldier, as 37-year-old Corporal Daniel Joseph Morozewicz of Frederick. The National Guard informed that it removed Morozewicz from active duty. Court records show that a judge held Morozewicz on $5,000 bail on Friday. Morozewicz posted his bond the same day, his case documents clarified. The suspect does not yet have a trial date for his misdemeanor charge. "The MDNG takes these situations seriously and will cooperate with law enforcement agencies as needed," the National Guard tweeted. The Rockville City Police Department also reported that it had some troubles with Morozewicz when he worked for the agency. The department noted that it suspended Morozewicz in October 2020 and "revoked" his "police powers" after an "unrelated personnel matter." The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation, Rockville police indicated. The Soldier has been removed from active duty. The MDNG takes these situations seriously and will cooperate with law enforcement agencies as needed. 2/2— MD National Guard (@MDNG) March 6, 2021Have a story idea?
