Los Angeles CA

Description

We’re a well-established and industry-recognized company that inspects residential and commercial properties prior to the close of escrow. Seeking to hire a property inspector who would like to be a part of the continued and long-term success of our growing business (we’ve continued to grow through the COVID-19 crisis this past year). Pay raises offered as you can meet and exceed customer’s expectations. 401K available after three months. The inspections we do are much smaller in scope than a full property inspection, covering only point-of-sale water conservation and safety items required by the City and County of Los Angeles. These items include meeting code requirements for the number and placement of smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, low-flow toilets and showerheads, and items specific to safety in case of earthquake, such as water heater strapping, and seismic gas shut-off valves. Experience doing various aspects of home inspections, and/or basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and/or other general repair skills is preferred but not required. The position requires the occasional installation and replacement of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Some handyman experience is a plus. You must be able to use a ladder when necessary. Though the job doesn’t require a lot of physical labor, you should be physically fit and have good balance. This position is best for a person who enjoys working alone, being out in the field and not in an office. It requires a person who is self-motivated, organized, has great time management skills, and a great work-ethic (honest). Must have an outgoing personality, display very good communication skills, and convey a friendly and professional manner. We’re a small company with a staff who appreciate the harmonious working relationships and environment that have been established. Though this position is entirely in the field, the right candidate must have a friendly and easy-to-work-with demeanor. We realize that a successful business means everyone working together is happy. If you’re a person who genuinely cares about the well-being of others and uses your heart in day-to-day interactions, is honest and hard-working, then you may be the right person for this opportunity. In addition to the above-described responsibilities and qualifications: Responsibilities include: • Driving within the City and County of Los Angeles (This position is done entirely out in the field, at various locations.) • Inspecting residential and commercial properties (limited scope retrofitting inspection). • Generate inspection reports and clearly document work-needed in order that our office can provide estimates and invoices. • Occasionally take photos of the condition of properties. • Answer client questions, and converse with clients. Qualifications: • Must be dependable and reliable. • Must have own reliable vehicle (You’ll be required to carry some tools and supplies with you, including a small ladder). (Gas and mileage reimbursement.) • Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. • Must enjoy driving, be a skilled driver, and have a good driving record. • At least two years of property inspection experience preferred but not required. • Experience doing various aspects of home inspections, and/or basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, home repairs, and/or other general repair skills is preferred but not required. • Must be flexible with hours and days of work. We don’t work on weekends, but if you wish to on occasion that may be an option. • Must be proficient in use of a smart phone and apps such as Google Maps. • Must be thorough and detail-oriented. • Have a sincere interest in learning new things, and expanding your knowledge and abilities. • Must be easy-going and good-natured. • Must be a ‘people person,’ who enjoys talking with others (You’ll be meeting clients at properties, and many of them are very outgoing and like to talk). A background check and a check of professional references will be required before hire. Please email your resume along with your contact information to be considered. To be considered, please also write a brief email introduction. This is an important part of applying for this position. You can share a little about yourself, and/or share why you think this position would be a good fit for you. We know the job search process is time and energy consuming, and can be stressful, especially in this most difficult past year. We appreciate every person’s time. Thank you.
