ARVADA, CO — An Arvada man wanted for stabbing a family member to death and leaving two others injured, was apprehended by authorities Monday morning at the residence where the alleged murder took place two days earlier, according to the Arvada Police Department. Michael Kuhlow, 33, was taken into custody at approximately 11:15 a.m. at a home in the 8400 block of Chase St, where the incident was first reported at 7:43 p.m. Saturday. Kuhlow had remained at large since the triple stabbing, which, in addition to leaving one dead, left one family member in critical condition and another with non-life-threatening injuries. At 7:40 a.m. Monday, the APD became aware Kuhlow had returned to the residence. A warrant was obtained for officers to go back into the house. After trying unsuccessfully to contact the suspect at 8:30 a.m., the area was secured by authorities, including the Jefferson County Regional SWAT team. According to the APD, at around 10 a.m., the suspect communicated with family members that he knew the house was surrounded. An hour and half later, the suspect was taken into custody. No injuries were reported. On Monday, the APD said Kuhlow had been a fugitive with a felony warrant for a parole violation from the Colorado Department of Corrections at the time of Saturday's alleged homicide. The arrest warrant for Saturday's crimes included charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault. Kuhlow currently is in jail on those charges, pending review by the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.
