Join local artist Daisy McClellan on Saturday March 20th from 4-7p at Julia Deckman Studio for a special Indigo Dye Workshop. Join local artist Daisy McClellan on Saturday March 20th from 4-7p at Julia Deckman Studio for a special Indigo Dye Workshop. We will be making beautiful indigo striped hammocks just in time for the warm weather. In this class you’ll learn the fundamentals of using indigo dye from beginning to end. We’ll discuss the history of indigo in South Carolina and then dive into how to create a dye vat and various shibori tie dye methods that reveal beautiful patterns. You’ll go home with your very own full sized hammock as well we 2 tea towels that we will also dye during the class. Beginners are welcome in this 3 hour workshop- no experience is required. We will even have wine to sip and snacks to much on while you relax and create! We will be keeping the class size small in order to practice safe social distancing. Face masks are required. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy or bring an apron if you have one. We will spend some time on Julia’s back patio weather permitting as well.
