Join us on Sunday March 14th from 4-6pm at Julia Deckman Studio in Charleston for a special Modern Punch Needle Plant Cover Workshop. Join us on Sunday March 14th from 4-6pm at Julia Deckman Studio in Charleston for a special Modern Punch Needle Plant Cover Workshop. In this new class taught by local artist, Daisy McClellan you’ll learn the art of punch needle, a traditional embroidery technique that has had a big and modern comeback in recent years. Daisy will teach you everything you need to know to make an adorable punch needle plant cover. Beginners are welcome - no experience is required. You’ll learn about the history of punch needle, the best supplies to get started, how to thread a punch needle, stretch a frame, trace the design to fabric, how to punch, and how to hem and finish up your new plant cover. We’ll also go over how to care for your new plant friend. This two hour class includes all the materials below*: #10 Regular Oxford Punch Needle 5oz of premium wool rug yarn (in 5 different 1 ounce colors) Monk’s Cloth Backing Fabric 9 inch Morgan Non Slip Hoop Metal Snips Water Soluble Marker A handy guide to get you started on your punch needle journey Plant *If you have taken a previous punch needle class of Daisy’s or have your own tools you can take the class at a reduced price. You’ll need to bring the following supplies with you the day of class (#10 regular oxford punch needle and 9 inch morgan non slip hoop. If you have metal snips and a water soluble marker bring those too.) We will be keeping the class size small in order to practice safe social distancing. Face masks are required.
