TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA — First Lady Jill Biden is scheduled to visit the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center and Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command in Twentynine Palms Wednesday as part of her ongoing campaign to support military families.
Details and timing of her visit were not immediately available.
The First Lady's West Coast visit includes stops at two Washington state bases — Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Naval Air Station Whidbey Island — prior to her arrival in the Inland Empire.
Dr. Biden's efforts to support military families have been ongoing for more than a decade. Before her husband became vice president in 2008, she volunteered in her home state of Delaware with Boots on the Ground, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting military spouses.
During the Obama years, Dr. Biden partnered with then-First Lady Michelle Obama in the Joining Forces campaign, which supports military families in the form of education, employment, health and wellness.
Dr. Biden has announced that she will be focused on the ongoing Joining Forces efforts as First Lady.
