Description
CONCORD, NH — A Concord High School teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation about unauthorized physical interactivity with a student that is not allowed per SAU 8 district policy.
According to Kathleen Murphy, the school district superintendent, the teacher in question, in an effort to work with a student, used "unauthorized physical action" to gain the student's attention on Friday. A complaint was later filed. The teacher was placed on leave and parents with children in the educator's classes were notified of the leave on Monday.
Pending the investigation, the educator will not be allowed access to the district's computer network, buildings, or grounds.
"As superintendent, I regret this incident took place and hope to resolve the situation quickly," Murphy said in a statement.
Limited information is available about the incident due to it being a personnel matter.
Parents of the teacher were notified about a substitute staffer teaching classes. Updates will be issued about the need for substitute teachers if the leave continues beyond this week, according to an email sent to parents.
The teacher has been with the district for more than two decades.
