JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Fire Department extinguished a house fire on the city's far west side on Sunday night. The blaze has left the house uninhabitable for now.
Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said the fire broke out shortly after 9 p.m. in the 6600 block of Colaric Drive. Firefighters from Stations 8,9 and 10 saw heavy black smoke on both floors of the house as their fire engines arrived. The fire began on the first floor and firefighters had it under control in about 10 minutes, the chief said.
Nobody was home at the time of the blaze, Blaskey said. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
