JOLIET, IL — An angry 33-year-old Joliet woman chased after a man Friday night with a butcher knife as he locked himself behind a bedroom door to stay safe, according to Joliet police. As the man hid behind the locked door, Araceli Loza-Rebollar began stabbing the door with her butcher knife, and she eventually broke into the bedroom and attacked him, Joliet police said.
Eventually, a relative in the home called 911 and that prompted a quick response from Joliet police. Officers pulled up to the 600 block of Florence Avenue and arrested Loza-Rebollar on charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery.
Joliet police reports indicate the victim is acquainted with the woman accused of attacking him.
"Loza-Rebollar grew angry during an argument at which time, Loza-Rebollar threatened the victim with a butcher knife and chased him into a bedroom," Joliet police reports show.
Once Loza-Rebollar broke the door open with her butcher knife, she began to punch and scratch the man, according to police.
"The victim then fled and barricaded himself in an upstairs room at which time Loza-Rebollar followed and broke the knob off the door to the room," police reports show. "The victim then called a family member who then called 911 on his behalf. Loza-Rebollar was taken into custody without incident."
