JOLIET, IL — A 17-year-old boy in a stolen car was captured early Monday morning after Joliet police say he sped away from officers trying to do a traffic stop at Midland Avenue and John Street. Joliet police say the arrested juvenile was brought to the River Valley Justice Center on charges of possession of a stolen car and aggravated fleeing/eluding the police. The incident unfolded shortly after 2:30 a.m., not far from West Jefferson Street. "The driver refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit was terminated a short time later for safety reasons," police said. About 10 minutes later, Joliet officers canvassing area neighborhoods in hopes of finding the fleeing motorist found their suspect. He did not get far. "Officers located the juvenile on a porch of a residence in the 200 block of Reedwood Drive," reports show. "While speaking to the juvenile, officers located the suspect vehicle from the earlier pursuit parked behind the residence. The juvenile implicated himself as the driver of the vehicle and he was placed into custody without incident."
