TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Duncanville man's bond was set at $1 million after investigators with the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force encountered the first homemade methamphetamine lab in the area in at least three years.
Jonathon Cooley, 37, was charged Friday with first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance and trafficking methamphetamine after agents were told he was manufacturing the highly-addictive drug at his home in the 15000 block of Cooley Town Road.

Task force agents who arrived on Cooley's property Friday said they could immediately smell a chemical odor coming from a wooden building behind his home and once inside, they found several jars and bottles containing more than 1,000 grams of meth oil, an amount of finished meth, a jar containing a meth lab, several household items used in meth production and red phosphorous.
TPD says local manufacturing of the drug has not been common of late, with most methamphetamine confiscated in recent years coming from labs south of the U.S. border.
