Description
My philosophy is "Everything I ever needed to know about business I learned on the sports field." From Behind The Scoreboard, I feature the sports stories that tell us much more than simply who won or lost. These personal and inspiring experiences of grade school, high school, college, other amateur and even pro athletes allow all of us to reflect a little more on what is important in life. ~ James C. Metzger, Chairman and CEO, The Whitmore Agency

Having Fun Asserts Leadership
Leadership can be found anywhere, even during a gymnast’s routine.
Watch the video of UCLA gymnast Katelyn Ohashi from two years ago. Katelyn is having fun. She radiates warmth. Her team enthusiastically cheers for her, but their engagement is more than simply clapping and fist pumping. They are synchronizing elements of the routine with her.
According to a renowned psychologist, a team’s collective mood often is in sync with the mood of the leader. When a leader is upbeat, the positive energy is transferred to individuals. Energy radiates from the top. So does leadership in sports, in business and in life.
Learn more about Katelyn and her leadership in my blog.
