Rehoming family/farm shepherd mix dog

Description

We have a 3 year old neutered male mixed breed dog we are looking to rehome. (His mother was an Australian shepherd x Black mouth cur and his father was either a lab mix or an English shepherd) He has been our family/farm dog since a puppy and has always been super loving and has an awesome, laid-back, low energy temperament. He is very social with other dogs and loves all kids and will go with them wherever they go around the farm. We have other dogs around the farm as well as cats. He loves our pet cats and snuggles with them but will chase our feral barn cats. He is also accustomed to cows/calves and the occasional horse. The reason we need to rehome him is that he needs a more structured environment with boundaries and possible training with someone knowledgeable in aggressive behaviors that are triggered by fear. This past year, he has begun to show more anxiety with some visitors who are male. He has become aggressive with delivery drivers and any strange man in a uniform or coat (especially camo!) who walks up to our house. This happens quite often on our farm, as you can imagine. He has always been an outdoor dog but he is smart and would transition well to an indoor environment. He is longer haired and does shed. He would need a fenced yard if he ended up in an urban environment since he does occasionally wander away from our farm--typically to go visiting at neighbors with dogs he is friends with :) He has so much potential to thrive in the right environment that is: -Low traffic home (urban or rural) -Preferably with kids and/or other dogs -Fenced yard -The ability to exercise daily (he tends toward weight gain) We are asking a small rehoming fee to ensure he goes to the right loving home. Please email/text with serious inquiries only.
