JOB SUMMARY: Laborer/Asphalt Rakers work with hot asphaltic materials in the full pavement construction, repairs, and resurfacing of Municipal streets. The Laborer/Asphalt Rakers will prepare the streets for hot asphaltic materials placement, distribution, and raking. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Asphalt Rakers work closely with Paving Crew for preparation and the successfully completion of projects • Perform small asphalt patches related to utility restorations • Distributes, rakes, tamps, bumping of edges, and levels asphalt material on large and complex jobs • Uses jackhammer, compressor, plate compactor, and other related equipment as needed • Able to identify separated aggregate, boney material while racking in fines or sanding to establish even and nice finished product • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, boots, seat belt, gloves, etc. • Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes and behaviors observed • Display a professional and courteous attitude towards all team members and community • Ability work under pressure • Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: • Two years of asphalt paving construction, maintenance, and repair • Experience working around heavy equipment and heavy traffic • A valid Arizona State Driver’s License • Able to obtain DOT Medical Driver Card Preferred Skills and Knowledge (But Not Required) • Knowledge of asphalt compaction thickness, slopes, grades, and ADA requirements • Ability to set up and utilize automatic screed leveling system on a paving machine • Experience with a smart level and or laser level for grade • Accurately resolve complex drainage issues utilizing a paving machine or by hand raking • Ability to accurately calculate asphalt needed for paving jobs • Operate small Tack Oil machine, trailer mounted and may be required to pull behind vehicle • Must be able to identify and address base failures of roadway and proper methodology for repair Working Conditions/Physical Demands Requirements • Work is performed around heavy equipment and heavy power tools, requires strenuous physical exertion • Exposed daily working around heavy traffic, extreme weather, loud noises from machinery, dust, and the heat and fumes of asphaltic material • Must be able to frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds • Exposed to a variety of extreme cold and hot weather conditions What Benefits does ViaSun Corporation have for you! • You are joining an Awesome Team with an Excellent Work Environment! • Health Benefits: • Medical • Vision • Dental • Life Insurance - more options for Employee, Spouse and Child • Short-term & Long-term Disability Insurance • Legal Shield & Id Shield • Colonial Benefits – Hospital, Accidental and Critical Illness • Basic Will (100% paid with 1 year of Service) • 401K with company match • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) • Annual Bonus • Appreciation Events • Anniversary Rewards • Paid Holidays • Paid Time off (PTO) Come join our Team!
