Staff Zone a leading provider of staffing help throughout the US is currently hiring for the waste slingers / route helpers: The slinger / route helper rides on the waste truck and assists a driver in providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers who reside on a designated residential route. The helper is responsible for safely removing waste from carts, as well as carrying bags and containers to the truck for disposal. The position assists the driver in maneuvering his or her vehicle by directing the driver from the ground, while maintaining personal safety to prevent own injury. In addition, the helper helps to maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, as well as the residential route and work area. The helper is one of the few people that our clients customers interact with and thus is the face of the customer when on a route. You must demonstrate good customer services skills to meet the customer expectations; act in a professional, courteous and helpful manner toward customers and co-workers. The helper must be physically fit and able to lift, push or pull up to 50-100lbs. You will be riding on the back of the truck most of the day climbing on and off more than 500+ times to pull carts when in the residential areas and riding in the cab when going out of neighborhoods with higher speed limits and to landfills. Our client works regardless of the weather (summer heat, winter cold and in the rain) and the completion of the job is dependent on the helpers. The helper operates the mechanism that loads and dumps carts into the rear of the truck and then compacts the refuse. Helpers are not mechanics and are not expected to work on or repair compactors on the route. You are expected to follow our clients company safety policies and rules set forth. Never take unnecessary safety risks and wear the appropriate PPE at all times!! You must have your own, long pants, shirt with sleeves and steel toe boots. No tennis shoes allowed. We will proved the rest. This job starts as early as 5am and will work 10-14 hour days (Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri) with lunch often taken on the go. Often working more than one route during the day. You will also be expected to attend any customer safety training. Job is ongoing and never ends!!
